Isn't it absolutely fabulous. I adore it, and have rewarded it with it's very own chair which no-one else is allowed to sit in, so I can admire it, which i do, regularly! If you want to read about how she made it, click here, here and here for the info, and when she points out the faults, well let's just say, she's talking nonsense, it's perfect!
And then on Friday night I found out I had won this fantastic giveaway on the LMQG site, for a 2 day course with the fantastic Katy Jones at The Village Haberdashery in London, excited was I, delighted and doing a little dance? No, it put me in a right mood!
Why I hear you shout, or maybe not, well because on Friday, only a few hours ago I had agreed to be elsewhere on the date of the first part of the course, and wriggle as I might I couldn't get out of it! I'm not saying I cried, but i'll be honest I was close to it, and I was really p'd off into Saturday too. Oh well, better luck next time, but there really is nothing worse than having such a fab prize being dangled in front of your face, to be snatched away, lady luck is a cruel, cruel, mistress!
But the week ends of a happy, smiley note, I had a lovely night away at my friends very posh barn conversion in the
This evening I received an email from the gorgeous Marit at Sew, Love, Live (my sister Stitch Teaser no less), that I was second in her draw for SewMamaSew giveaway day, and this bundle of lovelies will be winging their way to me this week
If you've never been to Marits blog, seriously get yourself over there, she makes some beautiful things, and is a genuinely lovely person too. :o)
Right, well I promised I would tell you the book you can win for this months Book Challenge- 3 chances to win, one for the entry, 2 for being a follower, and for the 3rd chance, just tell me what your most "testing" project ever was.
It's another good book which I will be reviewing next week, it isn't released yet, but is due out any day, I've already been checking it out, it's a great reference book by the fab Ruth Singer (a Leicesterhsire based local too) with her book Fabric Manipulation, generously being offered by Stitch Craft Create.
Incidentally, Ruth will also be teaching at the Fat Quarterly retreat, time will tell if I manage to get into her class. :o).

Lucky lucky and unlucky you for sure!!! But wow to your birthday pillow - that is incredible!!! I am a follower who doubts I will be able to get a project done for the challenge this month but here is hoping!!!
ReplyDeleteMy most 'testing' was the Union Jack paper pieced block pillow last summer at FQR. I was a mega beginner at foundation piecing and I cried, stomped around, cried again and guess what - I STILL haven't finished that darn thing!! Maybe I will in June in time for the next FQR!!???
ReplyDeleteOoh you lucky ducky! Love susans cushion and the giveaway goodies from Marit will make something really lovely too :-)
ReplyDeleteOoh, buggeration on the course! Was there no chance of an alternative date?
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity you have to miss the course, can you not exchange it for another course or workshop? Well anyway you won some fabric and I'm sure Susan's cushion is one to treasure!
ReplyDeleteOh I am so green right now - I kept telling Susan to send that pillow to me...not sure I will ever completely recover but glad it went to a worthy recipient. Sorry about your prize win/loss, that sucks but there were other goodies, right? Fabric - that's always a winner.
ReplyDeleteOh boo on the course :((((
ReplyDeleteSorry you couldn't go on the course :-( I noticed your win on their blog, you were very noble to let them draw another winner. Enjoy your fabric!
ReplyDeleteWhat a weekend! And how annoying for you. Love your friends entrance hall - it looks like something from Country Living!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's just the way it goes sometimes, you win one you lose one. But a promise is a promise no matter what.
ReplyDeleteThe most difficult project that Ihave ever taken on was almost the undoing of me. I agreed in a fit of madness to cover a chair in patchwork, the exact wording is important here. I thought I had agreed to make a patchwork cover. I ripped every nail on both hands, pulled handfuls of hair out and invented a lot of new swear words. Thanks to the net I also learned how to upholster a chair and also to never do it again.
ReplyDeleteOh bugger - at least you have consolation prizes!
ReplyDeleteThanks lovely! Sorry about the course though.
ReplyDeleteloving the cushion... just put the rest behind you x
ReplyDeleteHope you like the book! May I quickly plug that I am running a fabric manipulation workshop in Leicester on 1st June! And plenty of other workshops http://mantua-maker.blogspot.co.uk/p/workshops-classes.html
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your review
Finished my May book project - a Zakka apron from the new book: http://craftyshenanigans.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/weekend-catchup-heather-ross-hexies-and.html. Wasn't sure where to link up so here is the link!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope this is where we post for the month of May! I am a follower!
ReplyDeletehttp://intheboondocks.blogspot.com/2013/05/may-book-challenge.html#comment-form this is the link to my entry!
ReplyDeleteThe first quilt I ever made was the most testing! It was a rag quilt and the thread kept breaking and needles broke and nothing worked right! I was in tears and using sailor words, I learned in 20 years ago! Then my husband bought me a new machine!
ReplyDeleteLove the cushion...even if it was late....it was worth waiting for. I'm a happy follower.
ReplyDeleteCan you defer the class to another time....it's always worth asking? My most challenging project is the tail feathers quilt....which is still on going!
ReplyDeleteHere is my entry...a painting from an Alwyn Crawshaw book...I'm not clever enough to do this without the how to water colour paint book!

Ok, I'm late this month, but better late than never ;)
ReplyDeleteHere's my entry: http://liashandmades.blogspot.de/2013/05/monthly-book-challenge.html
I'm also a follower, of course! ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd my most testing probably goes into zippers in pillow cases! No pun intended that this month's entry IS a pillow case, and I finally found a fairly easy way to do zippers that don#t look completely weird lol!
ReplyDeleteOh and by the way, your cushion is awesome! And what a bummer about the classes!
ReplyDeleteSo here is my project, it was heavily inspired by the Patchwork Please pattern. http://www.shecanquilt.blogspot.ca/2013/05/a-trivet-and-its-tale.html
ReplyDeleteAnd I do follow your lovely blog. And I would love that book too.
ReplyDeleteI have sewn for a long time so mostly muddle through most stuff. But I will say that the Weekender Bag was a lot of fuss and bother, probably more than I usually like.
ReplyDeleteI finished another Zakka project http://jersey-scrapper.blogspot.com/2013/05/lots-of-little-jobs_29.html
ReplyDeleteCompetition now closed :o)
