Decisions, decisions.

At least the garden is looking pretty....
After a week and a half of no bath (no shower- but we didn't have one anyway) we have tiles, and a bath- with no taps- no shower, and not even a hole in the bath for taps, yet.
Tiles AND grout, you spoil me Mr Tiler!
So, you could say I'm a little "ripe" now, but fortunately I have a lovely friend who has given me a key to her house with the express instruction to go and de-stinkify whenever I want, yay!  The bathroom will be finished tomorrow, well, the bath SHOULD have taps and the shower should be fitted, and I can't wait to go and get clean whenever I so desire.  You don't miss it until you don't have it, and oh how I miss it!
So, inbetween bossing around workmen, making decisions about stuff I never knew I needed to care about (the colour of grout!), sealing tiles- let me give you a little warning about Travertine or any real stone tile, they're high maintenance, sealing before fitting, special cleaning and then regular re-sealing, snore- I have finally managed to get in a little more sewing.

Quilt top finished.
The quilt top of my Craftsy BOM 2012 is now all sashed and ready to be basted.  After months of never quite getting round to making the final 4 blocks, I read this post by the fab Lucy and had an epiphany.  Who is to say I need to finish those last 4 blocks, so what, I have 16 blocks which is more than big enough for me to make a sofa quilt, for MYSELF, so I sewed it together, and so far, the quilt police haven't come to arrest me.  I'm thinking, sometimes, you've just got to give yourself a break. :o)

It's not perfect, some of the points are lost, it's not 100%, but I learned a lot making it last year, and soon (hopefully) I will have a quilt of my very own, for all of the sofa surfing I do.

Alongside this, I have been working on the binding for my Hexy quilt, busy busy, and I'm about a quarter of the way round joining it.  The it needs to be sewn down and quilted to hold the edge layers together, this is progress, real progress. :o)

Right, back to my sewing, can't stay here chatting

Ange :o)

  10. Ha ha! Having done the bathroom thing 6 months ago I know all about grout colours and silicone! Never mind the inconvenience of not being able to hop in the shower every morning. Not long now though and you'll both (bathroom and you) be daisy fresh!

  12. I had no idea grout came in different colours until we had our bathroom redone a couple of years ago. Go figure!

  13. He he, poor you, I am feeling your pain! We're just about to have our shower ripped out and started again after i came home a couple of weeks ago to find a puddle on my leather chair in the lounge. After variously berating my toddler, my cat then the dog to no avail i realised that the ceiling above had also gone brown, agghhhh leaky shower disaster! It turns out it had been leaking for years but had been patched up before we bought the house. boo hoo. Your new bathroom looks like it will be spa-tastic though! enjoy!

  15. I'm surprised you've got anything done - I don't really wake up unless I've had a shower!!! Love your quilt - I wonder if I'll be making a similar decision about my Skill Builder BOM in a little while!!!! x

  16. I feel your pain - back in 2007 our whole city had no water for 10 days after a flood. No baths, showers, washing machine, dishwasher, flushing toilet! Yeuk! I know most of the world don't have these things all the time, but telling yourself that doesn't help.

On another note the quilt is lovely and I suspect the quilt police would be fine with it!

  18. I like the polka dot that you used for the sashing and border on the b&w quilt. I'm making a b&w quilt and I just think I am going to borrow your idea! lol!

  21. I feel your pain, we had our bathroom completely ripped out and re-done at the beginning of the year. New floor, walls, ceiling and then all the fixtures and fittings descisions - we have gone for black floor and shower enclosure tiles, white walls, grey grout! SOOO worth it in the end! Looking forward to seeing some pics when it's done :o)

  22. I loved the 2012 Craftsy QAL! My first year of quilting and I learned so much! I was at the computer the first of each month waiting for the next block to be released! I know, pathetic! Congrats for your finish!
