Missing: One Set Of Sewjo
It's been gone since I got back from FQR and I just can't seem to get it back. Normally, I'm all whirling brain full of ideas, so many projects on the go I don't know where to start, and all I want to do is sew, not so at the moment. I can think of all the things I need to be doing (2 baby quilts for asap as a starter), and really don't have the enthusiasm for any of them, that can't be right, surely?
I have managed to make a couple of blocks I needed to get done for July
But I still have a couple I need to make for Di, if I can just get the energy, and an idea.....
Ange x
I feel the same Ange. My mind is willing but the body is weak ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's crap when your mojo packs it's bag and goes on it's holibobs without giving you advance warning. Don't force it, it'll be back. If you try and sew when you're not up for it you'll make mistakes and be dissatisfied and it'll make it worse.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the same, maybe its just giving our brains time to put our ideas together. x
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your loss of mojo. Maybe you just need a holiday!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, you're not the only one, the holidays are wearing me out! I'm really too knackered to sit at the machine and sew, I'm getting a few hexies joined here and there though... :o)
ReplyDeleteRelax and enjoy the sound of pouring rain!! At least, it is here :-( I think those days when we lose the inclination to sew are a good reminder for us of other things. Go read a book while you can! There will soon be another quilt enticing you...
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling a bit the same - am blaming it having the kids running around (and not going to sleep til 8-9pm. Grrrr!!!!) Hope it comes back for you soon :) x
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear your sewjo is missing!! Two ways I know to find it: 1. Pretend you don't miss it, do other relaxing things, enjoy the summer, and suddenly it'll be knocking on your door. Or 2. Pretend it's not missing at all, just sew anything easy (!!) that you usually enjoy sewing. You may find the sewjo cannot resist joining in with the fun after a little while!
ReplyDeleteBoth those have helped me find my sewjo back at times. Most importantly, enjoy the summer, with or without your sewjo!
My head has already gone on holiday, it took me all day to pull 6 fabrics for a couple of makes that took 30mins to sew; I just couldn't think hard enough to make a decision.
ReplyDeleteBut it's been warm and stuff, plus I hear it's common after FQR, cut yourself some slack :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blocks!! It's the downer after FQR, same thing happened to me last year! I think your sewjo just has to process all the coolness it absorbed :)
ReplyDeleteHope your sewjo comes back soon Ange! Sometimes I find it's useful to have a little guilt free sewing break - just tell yourself you're refreshing your creative energies :-)
ReplyDeleteI hear you. Like Kelly, it's the body letting me down
ReplyDeleteAhh, a lot of us crashed after FQR last year! I pulled fabrics for Jennifer's blocks earlier, and realised I'd totally miscalculated. Like, by 12 pieces of fabric. Doh!
ReplyDeleteIt's tough to fake enthusiasm for projects when there is none. Hope you find a project to help get your sewjo back soon!

Love your blocks...........just go with the flow. You may just be tired full stop and you need a break so take it.........then you will get motivated before you know it. Marie (mlismore@optusnet.com.au)
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel more normal soon but I feel similar. I have been knitting this week.
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way when I got back from Quiltcon. It was weird. Like all that inspiration short-circuited my brain. I hope it comes back soon x
ReplyDeleteYou're probably just processing all the fabulousness of FQR. I feel like my head is so full of ideas, I can't get started on anything. Have a bit if time off, it will come back.
ReplyDeleteI find that whenever I can quilt I can't think of anything, but when I am too busy with other things my mind is full of ideas. Don't stress it, do something else and it will come back.
ReplyDeleteYes, what Mary said....walk away, do something different and it will return :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean too. I am on a slippery slope of downward enthusiasm. I think for me I am distracted by a sick relative and what I should be doing that way. I try to keep one foot in the creative door but I just don't have the energy to do much.

Chill! It is August and summertime. You will get back into gear when the normal routine begins again in September! Di x
ReplyDeleteI hope you find your sewjo soon! I am the opposite, a million and one things I want to crack on and sew but just no time.
ReplyDeleteSending some sewjo your way. The blocks for Katy are really lovely
ReplyDeleteNice blocks despite the missing mojo.
